All Collars and Classes in Mewgenics — Complete Guide
A complete breakdown of all 14 collars in Mewgenics, including their stats, effects, and how to unlock each one.
Collars are how classes work in Mewgenics. Each collar assigns a different class archetype to your cat, changing their stats and determining which abilities they can learn. Here’s every collar in the game and how to get them.
Starting Collars in Mewgenics
These four collars are available from the very beginning of the game:
Hunter Collar
- Effect: +2 Speed, +1 Luck
- Playstyle: Ranged DPS with high mobility
- Best for: Hit-and-run tactics, sniping priority targets
- Hunters excel at positioning and dealing damage from a distance. Their speed advantage means they often act first in turn order.
Fighter Collar
- Effect: +2 Attack, +1 HP
- Playstyle: Melee DPS with solid durability
- Best for: Frontline damage dealing, reliable all-rounder
- Fighters are one of the strongest classes in the game. High attack combined with decent HP makes them dangerous and survivable.
Mage Collar
- Effect: +2 Magic, +1 Speed
- Playstyle: AoE damage and utility spells
- Best for: Clearing groups, elemental damage
- Mages deal devastating area damage. Their spells can hit multiple enemies and often apply status effects. Essential for dealing with swarms.
Tank Collar
- Effect: +3 Defense, +1 HP
- Playstyle: Damage absorption and team protection
- Best for: Drawing aggro, protecting fragile teammates
- Tanks take hits that would destroy other classes. They have abilities that taunt enemies and shield allies. Pair with a Cleric for maximum survivability.
Unlockable Collars in Mewgenics
These collars are obtained by progressing through game zones and speaking with the NPC Butch. After reaching a new area, talk to Butch to unlock the corresponding collar.
Cleric Collar
- Effect: +2 Magic, +1 Defense
- Playstyle: Healing and support
- Best for: Keeping your team alive, reviving fallen cats
- The Cleric is arguably the most important class in Mewgenics. Healing is scarce, and Clerics are the primary way to keep your team fighting. Always have at least one.
Butcher Collar
- Effect: +3 Attack, -1 Defense
- Playstyle: Glass cannon melee
- Best for: Maximum single-target damage
- Butchers hit incredibly hard but are fragile. Position them carefully — they need to get in close to deal damage. Devastating when attacking from behind.
Druid Collar
- Effect: +1 Magic, +1 HP, +1 Defense
- Playstyle: Nature magic, summoning, terrain control
- Best for: Board control, flexible support
- Druids create tile effects and summon creatures. They’re versatile but don’t excel in any single area, making them a jack-of-all-trades choice.
Jester Collar
- Effect: Varies (copies other collar abilities)
- Playstyle: Wildcard — mimics other classes
- Best for: Unpredictable plays, adapting to situations
- The Jester is unique — it can copy abilities from other collars. This makes it incredibly flexible but also inconsistent. In the right hands, it’s game-breaking.
Monk Collar
- Effect: +2 Attack, +1 Speed
- Playstyle: Counter-based melee fighter
- Best for: Defensive offense, retaliation builds
- Monks gain power from being attacked. They have counter abilities and stances that make them dangerous to engage in melee.
Necromancer Collar
- Effect: +2 Magic, +1 Attack
- Playstyle: Summoning undead, dark magic
- Best for: Action economy through summons, debuffs
- Necromancers summon undead allies that act as extra team members. More bodies on the field means more actions per turn. However, summons can be fragile and unpredictable.
Psychic Collar
- Effect: +2 Magic, +1 Luck
- Playstyle: Mind control, debuffs
- Best for: Disrupting enemy actions, crowd control
- Psychics mess with enemy behavior — making them attack their allies, skip turns, or move erratically. Powerful but situational.
Tinkerer Collar
- Effect: +1 Attack, +1 Magic, +1 Luck
- Playstyle: Gadgets, traps, and inventions
- Best for: Battlefield setup, trap-based damage
- Tinkerers place devices and traps on the battlefield. They require planning but can control entire zones. Works best when you know what enemies are coming.
Thief Collar
- Effect: +2 Speed, +1 Attack
- Playstyle: Stealth, stealing, hit-and-run
- Best for: Resource generation, quick strikes
- Thieves can steal items and coins from enemies. The Pickpocket ability is crucial for the infinite coins strategy. Their speed makes them excellent at repositioning.
Blank Collar
- Effect: No stat modifications
- Playstyle: No class abilities
- Best for: Pure stat cats, specific breeding purposes
- The Blank Collar removes all class bonuses and abilities. It’s useful when you want a cat’s raw stats without class interference, or for breeding purposes. Obtained through Tracy’s shop upgrades.
