How to Get Rid of Heatwave in Mewgenics
Struggling with the Heatwave debuff in Mewgenics? Learn how to manage this Act 2 status condition that reduces healing in the Desert area.
The Heatwave is one of the most frustrating status conditions in Mewgenics. It appears when your cats enter the Desert area in Act 2 and significantly impacts your healing capabilities. Here’s how to deal with it.
What Does Heatwave Do in Mewgenics?
Heatwave is an environmental debuff that:
- Reduces healing effectiveness during and after battles
- Affects all cats in your squad while in Desert zones
- Persists throughout the entire Desert adventure
- Makes Clerics and healing items significantly weaker
This makes Desert zones much harder than other areas, as your primary survival tool (healing) is hampered.
How to Counter Heatwave
Water Bottles
The most direct counter to Heatwave:
- Found on the map in Desert areas
- Using a water bottle temporarily removes the Heatwave debuff
- Effects are temporary — the debuff will return after a few turns
- Stock up whenever you find them
Number One Skill
A specific cat ability that creates water:
- Creates water tiles on the battlefield
- Cats standing on water tiles gain Heatwave resistance
- Can be inherited through breeding
- Look for cats with this ability if you plan to farm Desert zones
Cleric Healing (Still Works)
Even with Heatwave active:
- Cleric healing is reduced, not eliminated
- A Cleric is still your best option for keeping the team alive
- Consider bringing two Clerics for Desert adventures
- Supplement with healing items for burst healing
Strategy for Desert Adventures
Preparation
- Bring extra healing items — you’ll need more than usual
- Have a Cleric (or two) in your squad
- Look for water bottles in every battle
- Plan shorter runs — don’t overextend in Desert zones
During Combat
- Prioritize staying on water tiles when possible
- Be more conservative with aggression — you can’t heal as freely
- Focus on eliminating threats quickly to reduce incoming damage
- Use Tanks more aggressively to prevent damage rather than healing through it
After Combat
- Healing between battles is reduced — factor this into your run planning
- If your squad is hurt, consider retreating early rather than pushing deeper
- Desert Boss fights are especially dangerous — enter at full health if possible
