Man in the Moon is one of those bosses that looks intimidating but crumbles fast once you know the tricks. This guide covers two bulletproof techniques that’ll have you clearing this fight in under 2 minutes.

Why Direct Attacks Don’t Work

The head has built-in protection. Attacking it directly is inefficient and risky. Instead, we’ll use the boss’s own mechanics against it.

Key Insight: The hands deal massive damage to the head when redirected. That’s our win condition.

Technique 1: The Swallow Trap

This method turns getting eaten into an advantage.

Setup

  1. Pick a cat with high health and good mana regeneration
  2. A high-health Thief is the ideal choice
  3. Keep all other cats grouped together in the middle, far back from the head

Positioning cats in the middle before engagement

Getting Swallowed

Move your chosen cat directly in front of the head in one turn. The head will swallow your cat, trapping it inside.

Managing the Hands

While your cat is trapped, use your other cats to keep the hands at a safe distance:

  • One hit spins a hand in the opposite direction
  • A second hit makes the hand smash in that direction
  • Keep them away from your grouped cats

Redirecting hands away from the group

The Damage Phase

When your swallowed cat’s turn comes around, you’ll see a special option: “Stop Hitting Yourself”

  • Costs 10 mana
  • Makes both hands attack the head with high damage
  • Bypasses the head’s protection completely

Tip: Your trapped cat takes damage each round, but the trade-off is worth it. This technique deals reliable, consistent damage.

When to Escape

Eventually you’ll need to get your cat out. Use the 25% escape option called “Flail” when:

  • Your cat’s health is getting low
  • You need to heal and repeat the process

Time it so you can escape, get healed, then get swallowed again to continue the assault.

Technique 2: The Hand Redirect (Even Better)

This method is safer and arguably more effective. You never need to sacrifice a cat.

Setup

  1. Keep all cats at the bottom of the screen
  2. Position them centrally, lined up with the head
  3. You’ll need a Hunter or any cat with projectile abilities

All cats positioned at bottom center

The Redirect Loop

  1. Use a projectile hit to turn a hand so it faces the head
  2. Position your Thief or another projectile cat
  3. Repeatedly hit the hand to make it attack the head
  4. Each redirected hit deals massive damage to the boss

Repeat this process on both hands. The fight ends surprisingly fast.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

MistakeWhy It’s Bad
Attacking the head directlyWastes turns, head has protection
Trying to kill hands one by oneUnnecessary and slow
Spreading cats across the arenaMakes hand management harder

Warning: Don’t overthink this fight. The redirect strategy is simple and devastatingly effective.

Quick Reference

Technique 1 (Swallow Trap):

  • High-health Thief gets swallowed
  • Use “Stop Hitting Yourself” (10 mana) repeatedly
  • Escape with “Flail” when low, heal, repeat

Technique 2 (Hand Redirect):

  • All cats bottom-center
  • Projectile hits turn hands toward head
  • Keep hitting hands to damage boss

Both methods work. Pick whichever suits your team composition.
