Math Fighter & Savant Mage — Advanced Build Guide
Master two of the most powerful builds in Mewgenics: the Math Fighter with Breaking Point synergy and the Savant Mage with Mega Blast. Includes Tina Round 2 strategy and cat management tips.
This guide covers two of the most devastating builds in Mewgenics: the Math Fighter (Breaking Point spam) and the Savant Mage (Mega Blast cannon). We’ll also cover Tina Round 2 strategy and advanced cat management.
Part 1: The Math Fighter Build
The Math passive is one of the most broken synergies in the game. Here’s how to abuse it.
What Math Does
Math reduces all spell costs to a minimum of 3 mana. This turns expensive spells into spammable nukes.
The Breaking Point Synergy
Breaking Point normally costs 15 mana:
- Deals damage + knockback equal to your Strength
- Reduces mana cost by 1 each time you take damage
- Castable once per turn
With Math? It costs 3 mana every time. That’s 5 casts per full mana bar.
Pro Tip: Pair Breaking Point with Fish Hook — it converts knockback into bonus damage. With 10 Strength, that’s +10 damage per cast. Breaking Point becomes a 20-damage nuke for 3 mana.
Thunder Punch Plus
The upgraded Thunder Punch Plus guarantees a stun. With Math:
- 3 mana cost
- Guaranteed stun
- Good damage
- Spammable
Four casts = ~70% cumulative stun chance on the base version. The Plus version? 100% stun every cast.
Building the Math Fighter
| Stat | Priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | ★★★★★ | Directly increases Breaking Point damage |
| Constitution | ★★★★ | Fighters take hits — need survivability |
| Speed | ★★★ | Turn order matters for burst windows |
| Charisma | ★★ | More mana = more spell casts |
| Intelligence | ★ | Math makes this irrelevant |
Ideal Passives:
- Math (obviously)
- Thrill of the Hunt — +1 Dexterity permanently per 3+ kills
- Fervor — Heal 5 HP when you down a unit
Sample Boss Kill: Queen Hippo
With the Math Fighter build, Queen Hippo melted in record time:
- Move in, use Breaking Point (20 damage)
- Pop Second Wind for extra actions
- Melee attack + Breaking Point again
- Move out
She went from full health to dead in ~3 turns.
Part 2: The Savant Mage Build
This build is high-risk, high-reward. You’re a glass cannon with 8 max HP but 17 Intelligence.
Savant Syndrome Explained
Savant Syndrome is a mutation:
- +12 Intelligence
- -2 to all other stats
This creates a cat with absurd magic damage but terrible survivability.
Why Mage Class?
Mage gives Intelligence bonuses. Combined with Savant:
- 17 base Intelligence
- Massive mana pool
- Mega Blast deals 15+ damage in a cone
Warning: Mage class reduces Constitution. With Savant’s -2 penalty, you’ll have 2 Constitution = 8 HP. One bad hit and you’re down.
The Mega Blast Combo
Mega Blast is the payoff:
- 15 damage in a cone
- Scales with Intelligence
- 12 mana cost
With high Intelligence, you can cast Mega Blast + Warp in the same turn for repositioning.
Keeping the Glass Cannon Alive
Stack defensive items:
- Brick Mask — +4 Shield
- Cinder Block — +3 Shield
- Blessed Ashes — +3 Shield when HP drops to 3 or less
- Relic — +1 Holy Shield (blocks one full hit)
With all these, you’ll have ~10 effective shields before taking real damage.
Warp: The Survival Spell
Warp is essential for this build:
- Teleport to any tile
- 8 mana cost
- Use it to escape after Mega Blast
The combo: Warp in → Mega Blast → Warp out. Enemies never touch you.
Magic Missile Upgrade
If you roll Magic Missile as your basic attack replacement:
- Scales with Intelligence
- Infinite range
- No mana cost (it’s your basic attack)
With 17 Intelligence, that’s 11 damage per basic attack at any range.
Part 3: Tina Round 2 Strategy
After beating Tina the first time, she returns with a twist: her head and body are separate.
Phase 1: Separate Targets
- The head and body move independently
- Focus damage on the head (it has more HP after body dies)
- Use AoE to hit both when they’re close
Rubber Arrows Synergy
If your Hunter has Rubber Arrows, position so both targets are within 3 tiles. Arrows bounce between them for massive damage.
Mega Blast Positioning
With the Savant Mage:
- Warp to position where cone hits both head and body
- Cast Mega Blast (30 damage total if both hit)
- Warp away to safety
The Body Pull Mechanic
The head will pull the body around, dealing damage to cats in the path. Spread your team out to minimize collateral damage.
Tip: The body cannot be destroyed normally. Focus all damage on the head.
Part 4: Cat Management & Breeding Tips
Cats Die of Old Age
Cats don’t die at a set age — they have an increasing chance of dying the older they get. Around age 20+, start retiring them.
- Send old cats to NPCs for donations
- Don’t let valuable cats die with zero benefit
- Age 23+ is “really old” — expect death soon
Question Mark Cats
Cats with a question mark gender can breed with any other cat. These are extremely valuable for breeding programs.
Stat Inheritance
After unlocking the breeding info upgrade from Tink:
- Base stats = what kittens inherit
- Bonus stats = modifiers (mutations, items, etc.)
- Kittens only inherit base stats
The Fight Club Strategy
With 3 rooms unlocked:
- Put cats with bad stats in the attic (low comfort = more fights)
- Let them fight each other
- Winners gain stat bonuses
- Eventually one cat emerges with multiple victories and boosted stats
Quick Reference: Build Comparison
| Build | Damage | Survivability | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Math Fighter | ★★★★★ | ★★★★ | Medium |
| Savant Mage | ★★★★★ | ★★ | Hard |
