Weather is one of the most impactful mechanics in Mewgenics. There are 55 different weather conditions, each universally affecting all units for the duration of one or more chapters. Weather can appear naturally between days at your house, be triggered by certain abilities, or result from specific event outcomes. Knowing what each weather does — and how to play around it — is the difference between a smooth run and a total wipe.

How Weather Works

  • Weather effects are universal — they affect all units (allies and enemies)
  • A weather condition lasts for one or more chapters during an adventure
  • Weather can appear at your house before an adventure, telling you what to expect
  • Some abilities and event outcomes can change or trigger weather mid-run
  • There are 75 possible weathers in the game’s data, with 55 currently documented

Elemental Weathers

These weathers add persistent elemental effects or elemental tiles to battles. Plan your team’s elemental resistances accordingly.

WeatherEffectDanger
RainPersistent Water Element.⭐ Low
Heavy RainPersistent Water Element. Extra water tiles in every battle.⭐⭐ Medium
Flash FloodPersistent Water Element. A ton of extra water tiles in every battle.⭐⭐⭐ High
SnowPersistent Ice Element.⭐⭐ Medium
FirestormPersistent Fire Element. Fires no longer burn out. Parts of the map are on fire.⭐⭐⭐ High

Strategy: Water-heavy weathers slow movement unless you have the Fin mutation or Duck Leg birth defect. Ice weathers make positioning treacherous. Firestorm is extremely dangerous — bring fire resistance or Water-element abilities to douse flames.

Environmental Hazards

These weathers deal direct damage, alter terrain, or create dangerous battlefield conditions every round.

WeatherEffectDanger
FogAll attacks and abilities have a +10% chance to miss.⭐⭐ Medium
WindyAt the end of each round, wind blows everything 1 space in a random direction.⭐⭐ Medium
SandstormAt the end of each round, damages everything by 1.⭐⭐ Medium
OvergrowthExtra tall grass and bramble tiles in every battle.⭐ Low
EarthquakeObjects destroyed, rocks everywhere.⭐⭐ Medium
WildfireFire everywhere!⭐⭐⭐ High
Heat WaveCats do not heal between battles and all healing is weaker. Everything is Freeze Immune. Staying Wet negates these effects.⭐⭐⭐ High
Oil SpillA random tile becomes a puddle of oil after every turn.⭐⭐ Medium
Strange SpikesKinetic spikes spawn every round.⭐⭐ Medium

Strategy: Sandstorm’s chip damage adds up fast — bring healing. Heat Wave cripples Clerics, so use Water abilities or Water Bottles to stay Wet. Wildfire and Firestorm are the deadliest environmental weathers; avoid them if unprepared.

Storm Combos

These combine multiple hazardous effects into one devastating weather. They are among the most dangerous conditions in the game.

WeatherEffectDanger
ThunderstormPersistent Water Element. Wind blows everything 1 space each round. Chance for random lightning strikes after each turn.⭐⭐⭐ High
BlizzardPersistent Ice Element. Wind blows everything 1 space each round. Chance for random lightning strikes after each turn.⭐⭐⭐ High
HurricanePersistent Water Element. Wind blows everything 1 space each round. 1–2 random tiles become water after every turn.⭐⭐⭐ High
MeteornadoAt the end of each round, damages everything by 1, with a 33% chance to inflict Bruise.⭐⭐⭐ High
TornadoesTwisters spawn each round.⭐⭐⭐ High

Strategy: Storm combos demand high mobility and Constitution. The wind displacement can break your formation, and lightning/meteor strikes add random burst damage. Position your cats near the center of the map to minimize displacement off the edge.

Meteor & Cosmic Events

Rare weathers with massive spectacle and equally massive danger.

WeatherEffectDanger
Meteor ShowerAfter each turn there’s a chance for a flaming meteor to fall onto a random tile.⭐⭐⭐ High
Solar FlareA solar flare strikes a large area at the end of each round, Burning and inflicting Blind.⭐⭐⭐ High
Geomagnetic StormAll rocks levitate at the end of the round. Extra rocks spawn in each battle.⭐⭐ Medium
Judgement DaySome tiles get Raptured at the end of each round. More tiles are affected every round.⭐⭐⭐⭐ Extreme

Strategy: Judgement Day is the single most dangerous weather — the playable area shrinks every round, forcing you to end fights quickly. Solar Flare’s Blind debuff makes accuracy-dependent classes much weaker. Bring AoE abilities to finish battles fast.

Creature & Enemy Spawns

These weathers add neutral or hostile units to every battle, increasing the chaos and difficulty.

WeatherEffectDanger
Raining FrogsExtra neutral frogs in every battle.⭐ Low
Restless DeadZombies spawn at the end of each round.⭐⭐⭐ High
Haunted NightGhosts spawn at the end of each round.⭐⭐⭐ High

Alien Invasion2–4 aliens spawn in each battle. Aliens are invading!⭐⭐⭐ High
The HollowingExtra hollowed spawn each battle.⭐⭐ Medium
Strange Eggs3–6 strange eggs spawn in each battle. Kill them before they hatch!⭐⭐⭐ High

Strategy: Spawn weathers mean more enemies per fight. Prioritize AoE damage dealers like Mages. With Strange Eggs, always destroy eggs immediately — whatever hatches is far worse. Restless Dead and Haunted Night force you to rush battles before you’re overwhelmed.

Swarm Weathers

Insect and critter swarms that add tile effects or minor units to the battlefield.

WeatherEffectDanger
Firefly SwarmAll allies have +2 Luck.⭐ Beneficial
Butterfly SwarmAll allies have +2 Luck.⭐ Beneficial
Fly SwarmExtra flies in every battle.⭐ Low
Cockroach InfestationExtra cockroaches in every battle.⭐ Low
InfestationAll non-tiny units explode into maggots or flies when they die.⭐⭐ Medium

Strategy: Firefly and Butterfly Swarm are free buffs — enjoy the +2 Luck for better crits and event outcomes. Infestation creates additional units on every kill, so plan for extended fights.

Tile & Hazard Weathers

These add specific objects or tile hazards to every battle.

WeatherEffectDanger
Trash DayExtra junk in every battle.⭐ Low
Pipe BlockageExtra poop and sewage in every battle.⭐ Low
Hunting SeasonExtra bear traps in every battle.⭐⭐ Medium
MinesweeperExtra land mines in every battle.⭐⭐⭐ High
Training DayA punching bag with Kinetic Spikes 5 spawns in each battle.⭐ Neutral

Strategy: Minesweeper is deceptively lethal — mines deal massive damage. Move carefully and use ranged attacks. Hunting Season punishes melee-heavy teams. Training Day punching bags can actually be useful for farming damage-based ability triggers.

Beneficial & Utility Weathers

Rare weathers that help more than they hurt.

WeatherEffectDanger
Pay DayExtra coins in every battle.💰 Beneficial
Blessed DayEveryone starts with +2 Shield and +2 Healing.✨ Beneficial
Drug Awareness DayExtra catnip in every battle. Find a random pill after every battle.💊 Beneficial
Low GravityJumps, throws, and projectile abilities have +2 range. All projectile abilities ignore blocks.⭐ Situational
Stealth MissionAll units gain Stealth at the start of the battle.⭐ Situational

Strategy: Pay Day is a great time to farm coins for NPC upgrades. Drug Awareness Day’s free pills and catnip can fund ability-heavy strategies. Low Gravity is a massive buff for ranged classes like Hunters and Mages — take full advantage.

Chaos Weathers

Unpredictable weathers that randomize the entire battle experience.

WeatherEffectDanger
PandemoniumEveryone starts with 5 random status effects.⭐⭐⭐ High
The ShimmerAll units gain a random status effect at the start of each round. Cats gain a random mutation at the end of each battle.⭐⭐⭐ High
Crazy WeatherThe weather is different every battle!❓ Variable
Acid RainAt the end of each round, damages everything by 2 with a chance to lower a random stat.⭐⭐⭐ High
Bounty HuntingA random unit in each battle has a bounty. A Bounty Hunter is here to collect.⭐⭐ Medium

Strategy: The Shimmer is a double-edged sword — random mutations mean your cats could come out with amazing new abilities or terrible ones. It’s great for mutation farming if you’re feeling lucky. Pandemonium is pure chaos; bring status-cleanse abilities. Acid Rain is quietly one of the most dangerous weathers due to its stat reduction stacking over time.

Unique & Special Weathers

These weathers have entirely unique mechanics that don’t fit other categories.

WeatherEffectDanger
EruptionA mini volcano spawns in each battle.⭐⭐ Medium
Alien OvergrowthA few bramble patches spawn in each battle, but something is strange about them…⭐⭐ Medium

Strategy: Eruption’s volcano creates fire tiles around it each round — keep your distance. Alien Overgrowth brambles may have hidden effects beyond normal brambles; approach with caution.
